Tooth Extraction Methods
There are two methods to extract teeth, the simple way and the surgical way. Our team has experienced general dentists performing general tooth extractions and trusted oral surgeons if a patient requires surgical extractions. Either way, tooth extractions are done safely.
In the simple method, the dentist will use an instrument to loosen a tooth that hasn’t impacted the gum and remove it carefully with forceps. The tooth must be entirely visible. If the tooth is not fully visible, this method is too dangerous to perform without surgery.
The surgical method works for broken teeth or teeth that protrude through the gum. This method requires a small incision that is closed after the procedure. Additionally, a dentist sometimes breaks up a tooth for easier removal.
